Phil,
I have one here with the same symptoms with one addition - the LED in the
middle of the power button does flash for times slowly each time I push the
power button.   I'm getting ready to scope out the horiz drive circuit.
I'll let you know if I find something.  I do know it is NOT the jungle
chip;)
