Jerry i listen when you talk. :) i finally see the light. I guess i had a slipping idler then. I wrongly assumed it was the size that changed my speed. but i now agree that to change the speed, as in an old clock, the large gear would have to have a smaller gear attached to its side. This group is a great place to get an education, even at my age. thank you, Larry J Silverman wrote: > The idler RPM would change inverse to its diameter, but not the surface > velocity, so the capstan speed would not change. > Jerry Silverman Greentron Inc > Mail to: greentron@xxxxxxx > 4 Newland Ave Greenville SC > 29609 864 232 3889 > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Larry" <schntv@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <techassist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2005 1:38 PM > Subject: [TechAssist] Re: Phone Idler tire source > > > >>come on guys, teeth or not this is a small pulley turning a >>large pulley, there will be a speed change. >>a true idler would have to be the same size as the drive. >>try it, i have, the wrong size will change the speed. >>larry >> >> >>gulftech@xxxxxxxx wrote: >> >>>I disagree.
