[TechAssist] Newer Sylvania combi TVCRs eating tapes?]

Had two shops say this. Lot of the newer Sylvania combi's will eat a
tape for no reason (they can find), or on rewind it may jump the capstan
and pinch roller. One tech says they come in, but they can'r reproduce
the defect on the bench to verify it. They give them a good mech
cleaning and hope for the best. Any other input here?
My personal theory is these new mechs are cheap plastic, they can warp
and gaul from age,use,heat,etc, and are unforgiving for slight variances
from one cassette tape's case to the other.
