[TechAssist] Re: HOT subs in general question

Hi Damon,

HOTs which have a higher amp rating contain a larger silicon chip.
Therefor the capacitance is higher. I guarantee that using a higher
amp HOT will often cause it to overheat. With some circuits this
does not happen. Don't know why.

Lower amp (than the original) HOTs tend to run at a normal temp.
(from my experience anyway). So, in a pinch you could use a D1879
(6A) if you didn't have a D1880 (8) on hand. The D1881 (10A) may
overheat.
