Gary;
I found the problem on both of these.
There is a 2 pin jack on the main circuit board. When you pull the deck
off the jack tends to pull up, and gets misaligned.
So when you reseat the deck the pins do not go back into the holder.
Need to watch that, I guess.

Ed, check for a 7806 or 7809 regulator. Seems to me I had one act the 
same and that was the solution.
