As an alternative view... We were recently 'relocated' and not having the money to move BT left the TC12 and Alpha where they are! We are communicating directly from our desks over an internal fibre optic (via an internal fire wall which requires fixed IP addresses) using 'X-vision'=20 We are also running fault reports directly into (and filtered by) PREFECT using the same fibre optic Anthony Sharp=20 Engineer (Traffic Signals)=20 Highways South Gloucestershire Council=20 Broad lane, Yate BS37 7FY=20 Tel: (01454) 86 3605=20 Fax: (01454) 86 3757=20 Find out more about the work of the Highways Section at: www.southglos.gov.uk/highways =20 -----Original Message----- From: tcug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:tcug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Grahame Bath Sent: 07 September 2006 16:20 To: tcug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TCUG] Re: UTC relocation Andrew We relocated thirteen miles almost four years ago. (Ewell to Leatherhead) It has to be said that the whole event was a complete success, with both Siemens and BT coming up trumps. What is required tho' is to get them on board at the earliest opportunity and keep them on board all the way through. Do not assume you can simply issue an order to them to do the work - you must ask them how best it can be done. ( I hope your move is at least nine - twelve months away however) Regards Grahame. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Grahame Bath Senior Engineer, Intelligent Transport Systems Network Management & Information Centre Surrey County Council Transportation Service Directorate of Services for Communities 020 8541 7346 (Tel) 020 8541 7366 (Fax) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ =20 =20 "Andrew Ashton" =20 <andrew.ashton@blackp To: <tcug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> =20 ool.gov.uk> cc: =20 Sent by: Subject: [TCUG] UTC= relocation =20 =20 tcug-bounce@freelists =20 .org =20 =20 =20 07/09/2006 16:04 =20 Please respond to =20 tcug =20 > Hi > > Has anyone relocated their UTC/Tele-12 system recently? > > I'm hoping to relocate our blackpool system in the new year to a new location six miles away, if anyone could highlight any obscure pitfalls to avoid, especially BT, I would be grateful. > > Regards, > > Andy Ashton > Group Engineer (Congestion Management & UTC) Traffic Management & Road > Safety, Technical Services Division, Layton Depot, Plymouth Road,=20 > Blackpool FY3 7HW > > Tel: 01253 476191 (direct) > Mob: 07796 994704 > Email: andrew.ashton@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Email Disclaimer is: http://www.blackpool.gov.uk/EmailDisclaimer/ This message has been scanned by F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange as part of the Council's e-mail and internet policy. ----------------------------------------------------------- A message from the TCUG mailing list.
