We use out of 'order tape' with a contact number to cover standard push buttons when signals are switched off. I can see no reason why this can't also be used on nearside ped aspects. The only problem we have found is that if left on for a long time (i.e. weeks on new installations), it does leave a mark from the adhesive that has to be removed. My experience of bags on push buttons is that they don't last very long. Tape is cheaper, easier to use and seems to be less attractive to our local vandals. We therefore don't use bags or signs...just switch off. This leaves the portable set as the most visible. Liverpool City Council should be able to help with an address, however.
