We have run a 'temporary permanent' ELV crossing during roadworks from November 2007 to the present with full compliance to the regs. Advertising it. Using zigzags and sticky down tactile paving etc and have found it to be very reliable . We specifically went ELV as the multicore could then be slot cut into the surface and still be electrically safe. It was also easy to reposition when part way through the works it was modified to dual crossing. We are about to commission a 14 phase junction fully ELV. As part of an pedestrian crossing refurbishment scheme, one contractor has offered an ELV option. At a significant cost increase it must be said. As this may provide a reduce risk under CDM I am considering taking up the option. However before this goes to a final decision it would be useful to canvass independent opinion from the "marketplace" regarding the reliability and numbers of fully ELV sites in use. If anyone has any experience with this option could you take a moment to share it?
