I find people respond to them better if you can put bleepers on the
crossing.

I have also found that where I have fitted the high level indicators peop=
le
tend to look at them whilst waiting, as they are at a level more in the l=
ine
of sight, where as the normal height indicators tend to get ignored more.=
 I
think it's because they find it strange having to look down at the unit.

Subject: [TCUG] Nearside Pedestrian Signals

Very sticky situation,

We have just converted a farside segregated pedestrian and cycle crossing=
=3D
to a good old nearside Toucan crossing. The complaints we are receiving =3D=

are horrendous especially with regards to the nearside display units (we =
=3D
have even used over height display units). Also the standard Toucan layou=
=3D t
is not a winner. We have directed people to the DfT video on their webs=3D=

ite. Has anyone had other issues with this?? And are the DfT going to adv=
=3D
ertise this on TV???
