I have used a KVD (the type now made by someone else) as a stopline
detector, a temporary measure (for a few months) whilst waiting for the road
surface to be sorted out it worked quite well.

I believe we also have one operating as a cycle detector.

Subject: [TCUG] Above Ground Stopline Detectors V Inductive Loops

Is the signalling fraternity now specifying above ground detectors with
configurable detection zones for stopline detection as opposed to good old
inductive stopline loops as standard? If you are are they proving reliable?

I have installed 2 to date and one failed almost immediately. The repair
time for the unit was not acceptable!
