Hi Eric All you need is about a ft of bell housing , bell housing on one side and the bench holder on the other . I have a small bracket ( ??? 3x6 '' ) & mount a red light ( for power ) & toggle switch ( ign ) then a push button . It weighs nothing + starter = ? not much . Small works on the ground or bench . The ?? 1/4 of a Type 1 bell housing is easy & cheap OH JUST LIKE ME Terry R -----Original Message----- From: Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thu, Jan 14, 2010 3:33 pm Subject: [tcb] Re: removable bell housing? Interesting Terry. do have a bench engine stand. urious about how I would use the bell housing from a Type 1 and an ngine stand to start the engine. o you bolt the back side of the bell housing to the engine stand? theresabuckner@xxxxxxx wrote: Eric do like Will suggested with a Tp 1 bell housing . This way you just need enough to work . You can start engines on the ground or use it with a bench mounted engine holder . I have 2 one for most engines & 1 for a 2.0 . You remember 2.0 has a different bell housing & starter . The best trans for buggy people is for the 2.0 ( my 2 cents ) Terry R -----Original Message----- From: Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thu, Jan 14, 2010 2:58 pm Subject: [tcb] Re: removable bell housing? Similar, but different. And its more like thinking about building one. I don't have an engine ready to be tested... More of a brain exercise. I'd like to find the bell housing though so I can start to design something. a1992cabbygirl@xxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:a1992cabbygirl@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Are you trying to build what Mark has? > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> > To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Thu, Jan 14, 2010 2:37 pm > Subject: [tcb] Re: removable bell housing? > > Yeah, that kind of works, but I want the back side that I can bolt to a > stand. > Bolt the bell housing up to the run stand, then the engine to the bell > housing. > > > Neil wrote: > > What Will said...you don't need the whole housing...just the top part, here > the starter connects and maybe down to the next bolt hole... > > > > --- On Thu, 1/14/10, Will <evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx> <mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx?>>> wrote: > > > > > >> From: Will <evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx > >> <mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx> mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx <mailto:evil.scientist.boo@xxxxxxxxx?>>> > >> Subject: [tcb] Re: removable bell housing? > >> To: "tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > >> <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>" mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx%3E%22?> <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?>>> > >> Date: Thursday, January 14, 2010, 10:55 AM > >> Cut up an 001 bug trans > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> -- Sent from my > >> Palm Pre > >> Eric Woodall wrote: > >> > >> I only want this for a run stand so I don't care about > >> strength. > >> > >> It'll be between an 002 and an 091, whichever I can > >> find for cheaper. > >> > >> Thanks Will. > >> > >> > >> > >> Will wrote: > >> > >> > >>> Don't recall. 091 is the strongest so that's > >>> > >> why they're popular > >> > >> > >>> -- Sent from my Palm Pre > >>> > >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >> > >> > >>> Eric Woodall wrote: > >>> > >>> Looks like an 002 also has a removable bell housing. > >>> > >>> Will wrote: > >>> > >>>> 091 74 or 75 with the 5 rib > >>>> > >>>> -- Sent from my Palm Pre > >>>> > >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >> > >> > >>>> Eric Woodall wrote: > >>>> > >>>> Can anyone tell me which year bus transaxle has > >>>> > >> the removable bell > >> > >> > >>>> housing? > >>>> > >>>> 74-78? > >>>> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > >> > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
