Thanks for clearing that up. I think I'll go for classic so as not to be
limited on mileage. I'll never drive him to work or in rush hour but I live too
close to the lake not to cruise on weekends!
I am on the look out for Texas 59 plates as we speak. Would be willing to trade
for Missouri 71 plates : )

has been a good provider. They've never
asked me for an appraisal on any of my vehicles. Right now I 4 VWs with
them and it's under $600/yr for stated value coverage, towing, labor,
alternate transportation and fairly good Liability limits.

Hagerty, from people's recounting their stories to me, seems to give
their customers a bit of difficult when it comes to appraisals and the
time it can take to pay up. They also seem to pester folks about vehicle
storage and a few other things. One person I know who was with Hagerty,
totaled their VW and it took over 90 days for Hagerty to pay up even
though it wasn't his fault.

As for registration. Antique registration has it's advantages and
disadvantages. On the plus side, no annual inspection and the
registration goes for 5 years. Less time at the tax office is always a
good thing.

The bad thing is that you're only supposed to be able to drive your
vehicle to/from events/club meetings and parades. Their really isn't
verbage in the code that allows you to cruise in it during weekends.
You can also drive it to your mechanic. That's in the literal sense.

like most laws the police will either disregard the plate and just
admire the vehicle but if you talk to Henry (Whale Tail Bug/Mulholland
look) he's been harassed many times when he drives on his Antique plate.

If you plan on driving it to work, cruise on weekends and have fun with
it I'd go Classic Registration which allows you to use old plates (Like
Antique) but you still have the annual inspection. I still cruise in
the 52 and the 59 with Antique registration but those are only weekend
vehicles. My 54 Kombi cruises the neighborhood and the gas stations.
something about Semaphores and cyclops brake lights makes me nervous
driving in North Dallas.

Besides if you get pulled over at 1PM on Tuesday Afternoon with Classic
registration you won't have to come up with awkward excuses. Maybe
Texas wil abandon inspections like Oklahoma did, someday. I just had
the Fastback inspected. 4 minutes for the inspection, 20 minutes for
the sticker.
