My mom has put up with my facination with VWs for some 50+ years. I still
remember a trip that my mom and dad made with me 50 years ago; some 200 miles
round trip to see an uncle with my mom and dad riding in the back seat of my 56
bug. My dad is not here anymore, but I am going to visit my mom today. She's
96 and looking forward to her 97th birthday later this year. Happy Mother's
day to all moms.

She said she loved the sound the engine made but I knew it was because she
could tell what time I got in.
Don't worry I got smart enough to coast home.
Then in her last years she developed Alzheimers and I took care of her, the
only car I had to drive her to Dr visits was my 66 bug convertible, luckily it
never broke down with her.
She didn't remember she was afraid to ride in them and she loved it.

Happy Mother's Day to all - its good to be able to remember.

In 1995 I purchased an old single cab ready for the

on mothers day 1999.I took my mom for her first ride
in a VW Bus .This is the lady that in 1998 had come
and visited me everyday for six months when I was off
from .work. We would watch videos of some Southern
California shows .I had her recognizing a 23 from a

.Sorry I usually don't jump around like this. lol. We
headed down State Hi Way 95 to Holland .We ate BBQ at
a little southern dirt floor place .The BBQ was
excellent. We went west through some beautiful farm and
ranch country till we hit I 35, We took the access
road back to Temple .As she was getting out of the
Single Cab she commented "This is the best Mother's
Day I've ever had"After hearing that , you know I was
in The Zone... All you Mothers have a great day and
all of the males enjoy your day with your Mom ,in
