[sib-access] Re: writing score with some free music

Ramy,
I suggest to analyse very well your melody phrase by phrase just
before writing. Make a measure for any motive or figure which can be
placed in a significant bar. In oriental free-time music we can define
measures almost precise, but the measures will not be necessarily
equal, so we may have many bars with different time signatures. For
example, you may have one 5/8 time, then one 7/8 time, then one 3/4
time etc. Also we can change the tempo for every bar you feel
necessary.
This way helps very well in beam address grouping as we can set for
every measure if necessary, so the performer will understand and
perform well enough the music.
You should know 2 other things: if you hide all the time signature and
barlines in this writing (remembering that we can not have only a part
of barlines invisible in a score), you can ask the performer to play
or sing the rhythm approximately, so you let him/her be some how free
in performance.
You can also let the time signatures and barlines be and don't hide
them. Then the performer has to be more precise and follow almost well
the rhythm and timing. Anyway you may let him/her be some how free by
writing some descriptions such as ad libitum, tempo rubato, ... or any
other description which makes sense of this kind of music performance.
