This runs another one of the plug-ins that I wrote as a work around. You can also find it in the main menus under Plug-ins > Access> Staff names. 1. Press Ctrl+F1 to open the Sibelius Access options list. 2. Choose "staff names" and press Enter. 3. The dialog that opens contains a list of all the staff names in the score. 4. Select the one you want to change. 5. Tab to the full instrument name and type in the name that you want on the first staff of page 1. 6. Tab to the short instrument name and type in the abbreviation that you want to appear on subsequent staves. 7. Tab to the close button and press space. The other way is to create a new instrument in the House style > Edit instruments dialog. Base the new instrument on an existing trumpet and just change the long and short names. You can then select the entire staff and create an instrument change using the new instrument you created. This will replace all the old names with new ones without changing the notes.
