[sib-access] Re: Changing instrument name in score and parts

Kevin,

You can change the names that appear to the left of the staves directly
through the staff names option in the Sibelius Access options menu. This
runs another one of the plug-ins that I wrote as a work around. You can also
find it in the main menus under Plug-ins > Access> Staff names.

1. Press Ctrl+F1 to open the Sibelius Access options list.
2. Choose "staff names" and press Enter.
3. The dialog that opens contains a list of all the staff names in the
score.
4. Select the one you want to change.
5. Tab to the full instrument name and type in the name that you want on the
first staff of page 1.
6. Tab to the short instrument name and type in the abbreviation that you
want to appear on subsequent staves.
7. Tab to the close button and press space.

The other way is to create a new instrument in the House style > Edit
instruments dialog. Base the new instrument on an existing trumpet and just
change the long and short names. You can then select the entire staff and
create an instrument change using the new instrument you created. This will
replace all the old names with new ones without changing the notes.

Hope this helps,

Dan Rugman
