Place a start repeat sign before the first bar and an end repeat on the fourth bar of the passage. (Repeat lines are found under barline in the create menu). For the start repeat, select the beginning of the first bar (Ctrl, Shift Left Arrow), alt C for create, bar lines, start bar line, enter. For the end repeat, you need to select the bar after which the line will be placed. 2. For specifying the first ending, select bar 4 (with control shift right arrow), press L for lines, tab once to system lines, movedown with the cursors until you find first ending and press enter. Sib Access will report the first and second ending and repeat lines as system objects. 3. Do the same for the second ending which should be after your fourth bar. Make sure you select the amount of bars that the line will be covering, and then place the line as described above. Visually, it works like this: peple see the start repeat, play the passage including the first ending, repeat and then jump to the second ending and continue on. Make sure that you have the end repeat after the first ending. Alt F2 on Sib Access shows you the system objects and here you can make sure that you have placed the signs correctly. For the other instance, where you have 4 bars, then 10 bars and then back to the first 4 bars, you would use D.S. al Coda. At the end of the tenth bar, where the musicians need to jump back, you would write D.S. al Coda. There are several places to find this text in Sibelius: 1. Go to the Creat menu (alt C), text (x), other system text (H), repeat D.S. D.C (R). When you are into that menu, you are in a place where you can type (like when you enter Tempo text with Control Alt T). By pressing Shift F10, you will access the context menu containing texts already given by Sibelius. Move down, select D.S al Coda and press enter. 2. Go back to the bar from which you want people to repeat. Press Z for symbol (you can find symbols through the create menu as well). The first row shows the symbol category (repeats, ornaments, etc). If you move right with the cursor, you will find the symbols within that category. The first one is repeat. Select the segno sign (once you are on top of it, you need to select it with space bar, enter won't do it). Once selected, tab to OK and press enter. 3. Last step: after repeating the four bars, the musicians need to jump forward in order to continue playing. So, you need to specify those places. Write "To Coda" after the fourth bar. The text is found under the create menu (Alt C), text (X), other system text (H) Repeat (R), and shift F10 as described for D.S. al Coda. 4. Place the Coda where musicians will jump to. It's there also (Other system text, repeat), or in Symbols (where you found the Segno sign). Honestly, if it's only four bars, I would copy them. It's easier and it avoids jumping back and fourth and therefore, the possibility of mistakes.
