A recent posting looking for an evaluation version of a simulator caught my eye and I decided to post some information on a good simulator that I use that is very inexpensive. The program is MI-SUGAR (http://www.macinit.com) that combines both SPICE and Gnucap with a nice graphical interface. A full license is only US$15. It runs on the open source Unix freeBSD based Mac OS X. One of my clients is considering buying a Mac just to run this program as the Mac is considerably less expensive than their current license fees for the program they currently use. In my case, I usually develop my own models, but SPICE compatible models should work if you already have them and the program includes models that are built into SPICE. I have started doing quite a bit of simulation work these days using the program. For an individual like myself, this program is ideal and the Mac itself is superb for scientific work (8 floating point calculations per clock cycle). There are many nice scientific programs available for OS X, MI-SUGAR being one of them. Doug -- ------------------------------------------------------- ___ _ Doug Smith \ / ) P.O.
