You should contact the connector manufacturers for their suggestions.
They will be eager to help as (after all) your success is their
success.!!

Subject: [SI-LIST] Need more insight on usage of a connector

Hi all,
We are designing a unit that is planned to sit in the truck dashboard.

The system has 2 boards connected by a b2b connector.

My Qs...

1. Is it advisable to use SMD connectors on one board and
through-hole
mating connector on the other?
2. What are the pros and cons of using SMD connectors in such harsh
environments?
3. Does a through-hole connector provide more mechanical stability
compared to the SMD variant?
