Hi Chockalingam, The mechanical stress will be more on the board as it is used in truck.=20 So it depends upon what mechanical support between the board and dashboard, the placement of the connector and mechanical connectivity between the two boards. Obviously the through connector mechanical stability is more compared to smd. I have some questions to ask: 1. Do you have a proper mate between through hole and smd connector and what is the pin count? 2. What is the reason for going one through hole and one smd? - Any space or height constraint? The system has 2 boards connected by a b2b connector. My Qs... 1. Is it advisable to use SMD connectors on one board and through-hole mating connector on the other? 2. What are the pros and cons of using SMD connectors in such harsh environments? 3. Does a through-hole connector provide more mechanical stability compared to the SMD variant? =20 =20 Thanks and Best Regards CK =20 ************************************************************************ ***** * Chockalingam.S, Design Engineer, MindTree Consulting Ltd Bangalore, India ************************************************************************ ***** * =20 =20 DISCLAIMER: This message (including attachment if any) is confidential and may be privileged.
