We've been using Accel's P-CAD for a while (started back when it was
TangoPCB). As with all sub-$10K packages, it's a love-hate relationship
(more hate than love). The one thing that has been able to provide a level
of sanity is the fact that the package allows external automation using
Visual Basic. This has provided the ability to work around some of the
limitations.

Do the higher end packages have good programming interfaces for
automation/customization? How about published file/database formats for
custom data manipulation?
