I'm pleased when a judge does a consistent job, is pleasant, gentle with
puppies. I recommended a judge for an assignment who is a Saluki breeder for
a
GSD assignment not too long ago who gave us a (maj.) Reserve  (we deserved it;
looking at the winners class, my eyes stopped at the Bred By Bitch who was
just lovely and though "uh-oh".) There is another judge who I jokingly say I
have (maj.) Reserves from in both Canada and the US (different dogs), who I
would show to any time. Both times I agreed with her decision. On the other
end of the spectrum, I've won under judges I just couldn't
follow....naturally, the only thing to do there is say "thank you" <G>. Some
of us can go home
without purple, still know the judging was good and in fact recommend the
judge for additional assignments:))))

People are getting smarter though; If they see shenanigans, they aren't
taking multiple chances with their dollars.

My pet peeve is judges who look like they have a tooth ache. Some just look
bored or like they wish they were anywhere else. OK, I know the
accommodations the night before might not have been the Four Seasons, and I
know the
floors inside are hard, or maybe it's hot outdoors, but for goodness sales, if
you don't want to be there, don't take the assignment. Foreign judges in
general are a happier lot! I remember fondly and Australian judge I showed
too.
I watched his breeds before GSDs (amazing to me how few folks do that!), and
he was all but skipping w/ happiness. He made a big deal selecting his
class winners, WD/WB/BOW/BOB. His grin was from ear to ear and it never let
up
all day:) Super w/ puppies and youngsters. Even if I wasn't going for the
points w/ something immature, I'd drive a long way to show to him:)
