Jim may have been using hyperbole. If you watched the Specials this year,
you sure saw the gait we all love. At the shows I have gone to in the last
few years, I have seem plenty of the long striding gait, and think our breed
is
in great shape.
Last night we got to watch the films of 25 years of our National Specials.
It often brought tears to my eyes, not only for the dogs, but our great
handlers who are no longer with us.
This is a film everyone should review, and so many of those shown twenty
years ago would be winning today. Reno number 4 Select, Lamar in the ring,
Earth Wind and Fire, Dave Rinke with hair, Destiny, just a puppy in the
Specials class. What a trip this sport has been.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
