I had decided before I went to the national that this would be my last time
in the ring. (Age does count). Then when I got in there, I felt like a
teenager, zits and all. I loved that Ken smiled at me in the individuals and I
held
my breath and didn't move until he pointed at me and I went over to the
keepers.
I didn't figure to stay in there to the end, but I did enjoy when I was not
in the keepers on the next cut, that I stayed in the ring to give it one more
try. I didn't expect to go Grand Victor, but I did know I got to try again.
It is a long way to go and a hard way to get there, to be cut with but one
or two passes and then sent out of the ring.
I have to admit I stood over an hour with the keepers while Ken did the
other seven groups, but I can't think of a better location at that time. I
was
amazed to look at my watch and realize it was five already and we were just
placed there. I suggested to Leslie that we change the dinner to breakfast,
but I had a cramp in my quad, and she showed me a way to stretch it out. It
worked. WE had a lot of time to discuss stuff.
In the end, making it or getting cut, I loved that we were still in the
ring. I was not anxious to be sent out. I actually enjoyed the process Ken
used,
and hope other judges consider it in the future.
