[ SHOWGSD-L ] Judging and time

Hi Guys
I have to shake my head over some of the comments from some about the length
of time it took to do Selects. First , from what I understand the quality
was DEEP and the procedure consistent. I think some are never happy, as for
the previous two years the complaints were, didn't take ENOUGH time, didn't
let the dogs show....
Now this year I hear "too long"
Remember folks, when you put a dog or bitch into the Nationals esp, Specials
you have spent a LOT of time, money , sweat and maybe tears getting him or
her to that point. You bear the cost of the trip to the National, the stress,
the advertising, the readying to SHOWCASE your animal. So you get there,
and you get one or two laps and out you go.
People go as much to show their dogs to the OUTSIDE of the ring, as the
inside. To sacrifice so much for two minutes is ridiculous, and disheartening
for owners.
THANK YOU Mr. Downing for allowing people to see their dogs in the big
ring, and for giving enough time to each to allow those OUTSIDE the ring to
appreciate and see the dogs. Win lose or draw , you let them "play" which
makes
it a bit better for those that didn't make it all the way. At least they got
something for their efforts.
The dogs were WORKED, what a concept, to WORK a Special, a dog that is in
competition for the BEST dog on the day. For that you are to be commended.
The creme will rise to the top in the working dogs, generally speaking. So
on behalf of all amongst us who are tired of the "30 Second Select", lol
