I can't think of many things more important that will be used as an educational
tool
for
generations than our Illustrated Standard!! SURELY it is important enough
that the
membership should also be a part of the decision somehow??
SURELY you can't expect any sitting Board of Directors to make that decision
soley
on the fact that the timing is such that they happen to be on the Board???
There are many talented and hard working and dedicated people on our Board at
all times.........BUT.....
That does not mean they have any artistic talent or capability of making the
kind of
decision of the correct artistic-architectual rendition of a German Shepherd
Dog in
full stride?? Also standing naturally or posed.
A decision that takes an understanding of the form and function and artistic
rendition that will be used to educate and visualize for generations to come
should have a lot of input from those who breed and exhibit and Judge these
dogs DAILY with an eye for what it takes and what is ideal and what is correct?
Also the input from several artists that agree on the final rendition would be
good.
THAT is not an automatic talent that every Board member and ONLY our Board
has the talent for. They did not have that responsibility when they accepted
the
nomination for the Board......and they should not be required to make that
decision. This will take more than a Committee and a current Board IMO.
The drawings and drafts we all saw for a short time before were not even close.
This is crucial.......... and permanent ........I AGREE WITH HELEN FISHER!!!
