[ SHOWGSD-L ] Illustrated Standard

To All Board members----
I understand that there will be a vote on the pending Illustrated Standard.
I presume you mean that all the membership will have the right to vote. In
my opinion,I feel the present product is a disaster,and that the Board has
tried to push an inferior piece of work through in a hurry,just to get it done
by the National. I feel it should be put aside, more thought be put into
whether a NEW one is needed and if so ,then work on over several years . It
took
Norrie Ordness four years to develop the GENERIC one,that he measured and
drew from the written Standard. His is concise,.easy to work with, and SHORT.
In my six years as Educational and ABJAC chairman,it was sent to every person
applying for judging the GSD. That included allbreed and Specialty
applicants. No one had trouble understanding it. Norrie didn't try to copy a
great top
winning dog. Opinions on what's in style or type change over the years. He
drew what our Standard says. It has worked for over 50 yrs. Helen Miller
