I guess my concern is that with time and money and a good dog, you can
get any level of grand championship never having to go Best of Breed.
I think to be in the Parade of Greats, the dog has to have done
something great like in performance, be a Ch. UD, herding Ch. or be an
"outstanding" representative of the breed. I know dogs that have
different levels of Grand Ch. but have never gone Best of Breed, Group
1 or BISS/BIS and just don't think they need to be represented as one
of the Greats.
We all know that AKC added the GCh. to get more money and to have a
venue for someone who wants to continue showing after getting their
Ch. I am not saying a GCh. is not a good thing after all as a Veteran
I am showing Strider, periodically when Art can fit him into his
schedule, for his GCh. just because he loves showing and deserves it
but should that only qualify him for Parade of Greats, I don't think so.
