I think what performance people want to see is a dog actually performing the
event. Much of the time what I see is a show gait surrounded by assorted
equipment or sheep. If positioned properly in relation to the sheep and
actually seeming to look at the sheep, that may work for herding. But it does
not work for agility, etc. So generally it is not a dog issue but a design
issue.
That said, it is expensive to digitize lots of new designs and that is a reason
for using the same dog for both. Yes, there would be some people who would buy
GSD agility, herding, etc shirts, but I doubt unless you find a good marketing
program and ready access to the performance people you could make much money
off it.

The number of performance people who shop would probably increase if there
was merchandise that portrayed the kind of dog they have.
Would you not think that if Sally were at a Performance National, she might
do Performance Style dogs on her shirts? I guess the venue will dictate
the items for sale, but the standard should control what a German shepherd
should look like.
