I agree that it is time for the GSD fancy to fly under the radar for awhile.?
However, there is no excuse, EVER, for a Rep to put hands on any exhibitor.?
The people directly involved should make AKC aware of any violations that
occured.? The folks that weren't involved should stay out of it at this point.?
I hope that this will be a learning lesson for all.? If such an incident
happens in the future, call the police and report it to the show Super
immediately.? Don't tolerate anyone putting hands on you but do conduct
yourself in a respectful manner, especially at AB shows.? But, don't be fooled
that a Rep won't show up at specialties either.? That was the feel I got when
talking to Gaeta.? He seems to have a mission as well, and it is the GSD fancy
at the moment.?
As a side note, I do show at AB shows a lot as I am also a vendor.? I have
people complain to me all the time about the doubling in GSD's.? I remark that
I see doubling in other breed rings and get told that it does happen, but never
as obnoxious as the GSD ring.? So I have no doubt that AKC gets tons of
complaints about us.?

I also agree that if we continue down this road of thinking we can do whatever
we want at shows, we will suffer for it.? Time to back off?is a good idea.? I
don't think this is over so it's also time to document and report anything that
is over the line.? Get witnesses and make sure that we are not the cause of the
problem?and are?the victim.??

Welcome to the world of what it will be like if the AKC cracks down on it
because of complaints.
Trust me... back off on this. Doubling is a gray area -- if they receive
too many complaints from other breeds and too many complaints from GSD
people who are bemoaning their treatment because one rep cracked down on it,
we're going to be living with this everywhere.
My only question would have been to the Rep would be, have you written up
the judge for allowing this perceived doubling to continue??

While I can't argue with the rest of your post, I think I should clarify
what exhibitors endured in Fitchburg. I was not at the morning show, which
apparently started the commotion with this Rep. But I was at the following
three shows. The second day, I was yelled at for walking to another side of
the ring. She thought I was doubling. I didn't even walk fast - and I didn't
have a dog in the ring at the time.
The third show, I walked by her and she heard the bell tink in my pocket.
Then I got thrown out.
None of that behavior was obnoxious, loud or disrespectful. But it seems to
me that after whatever happened at the show I was not at, she was on a
mission.
