I don't know the right criterion to measure the QBM IV "step", but
looking at the steps for my f3,5 and f4 lenses in detail I see a clear
difference: the f4 step has a top or upper surface looking like a band
(rather width) without edges, the f3,5 step has a narrower top looking
like an edge.
