I remember doing just that with my MX Rolleiflex when 220 film first came out. It WORKED!

Richard, if you read my previous post you'll see I have already verified that with 120 film it does not happen if the upper spool has film enough, the counter reset to 0 if you open the back but the lower film feeler mechanism does not get reset. I don't see reasons for a different result opening the camera back after to shoot the frame 12 using 220 film.

Then that's the answer. I could not remember what re-set the feeler rollers.
