Remember that ROC launches are "paid events", not simple "get togethers". It sounds to me like fearless leader is all over it and doing the right things to maintain our friendly and good relationship with the BLM officials. The last thing we would need is for good hearted members to stir the pot of an already frustrating situation. We elected the ROC board to be the point of contact for the club. The lake beds seem to all be in BLM controlled land, and according to the Barstow BLM Field Office, there is a continuous 'blanket' of permission to the fire-marshall requirement for the lake beds regarding rocket launches. I'm actually thinking of going out there tomorrow, mainly to see if my Electron Beams and PortaPads still work. Weather says the wind is gonna be under 10mph all day, sunny and 60s. Here are some resources that might help in determining what it takes to launch rockets in California. Pyro license that covered pretty much everything needed to do rocketry in California, but I can't find it right now :-( Maybe someone that's a member or launches there could make an inquiry about getting ahold of one. HTH, Mike P.S. I'm not a member of the ROC board, but I did read a couple of posts requesting that people not make inquiries about the status of the BLM permit. If people are going to contact the BLM, I'd suggest not even referencing the situation or even ROC, and just making a general inquiry along the lines of "What permission (if any) do I need to launch rockets on BLM land?" --- On Sat, 4/14/12, Terry Burnett <wtb123@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Terry Burnett <wtb123@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [roc-chat] FW: cdd feedback To: roc-chat@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Saturday, April 14, 2012, 8:01 AM I just thought I would throw this out there more as an FYI > > I contacted our Barstow Field Office (760) 252-6000 <tel:%28760%29%20252-6000> and they responded that there aren't designated areas, however you are allowed to launch at our dry lake bed areas such as El Mirage, Soggy Dry Lake, and some launch at the Lucerne dry lake bed.
