this is a little extreme, but you might try going to tools/options, then 
control tab to the advanced tab.  Tab to the reset button and choose to 
reset web settings.  That might fix it.

Wow thanks for all your help. I will check this out over the weekend. It is 
a work computer running XP and IE 8.  Not sure about the antivirus. It's 
LANDesk something or other. I get C+ runtime errors because of something as 
well, I think because of old Kaspersky they no longer use and is license up.
