John,  Consider motorizing your focus system.  A simple stepper motor on a
remote would do the trick and if you wanted to get terribly elaborate you
could "buy" the motor kit or add a second motor to drive the enlargement
adjustment as well...

Another option would be to employ an "assistant that would answer to your
beck and call or up and down as the case may be....
