Perhaps, rather than look at this time as a block, you can look at it as a
time to reflect. Vision is not always crafted with a camera in hand. Unless
this is your profession, you might just need a visit to a book store,
museum, or coffee house.  Maybe grab your camera and sit down and someone
will start to talk to you. 

I have no trouble with seeing someone use new gear to jump start their
dormant mind. You are after all looking for a new starting point, not
necessarily a new mid point.
