The M sync setting goes back to the days of flash bulbs. Unlike strobes the light output from a flash bulb is not instantaneous but takes a few milliseconds to reach maximum. (Magnesium wire/foil is burning in oxygen in the bulb.) M sync takes this into consideration. Unless you are using flash bulbs leave the shutter on the X setting. My question concerns the camera's synch settings. Seems that an M setting is correct for "M" type tubes and an X setting is appropriate for "flash". This is according to the user manual. Could someone clarify what is a M type tube, and advise which setting is appropriate for the monos. Thanks in advance.
