If you don't know what "M" is, you want to use X. This is true of other cameras that use Seiko or Seikosha shutters as well. M is used with strobes with delayed peak of light output. The electrical contact closes shortly before the shutter is open. In some lens shutters (mostly 35mm fixed lens rangefinder cameras like Konica Auto S series, Minolta Hi-Matic series, Olympus 35RC, 35SP, etc.) with an incorporated self timer, the self timer is usually unusable in M mode because the timing mechanism is shared. Most modern cameras don't even have M mode, and they are all X-sync terminals. That is, most, if not all, current electronic flashes and studio flashes use X-sync. For this reason, you might even glue a piece of plastic to secure the switch in X position. -- Ryuji Suzuki "Keep a good head and always carry a light camera." ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
