Lately I'm getting piggyback spam where the spammer jumps on a legit list with a phony return a address mostly to harry the folks on that list with nonsense text or garbled religious subjects. I just immediately trash it. The virus pushers or commercial spammers use provocative subjects to entice the receiver to open the junk. They're easy to recognize in both cases. I've been using a gmail account since very early-on (back when they were sorta hard to get) and I haven't noted a lot of spam coming from legitimate Gmail addresses.
