Yeah - we've had this discussion before:
but I have always noted that the Jewelled Knife is completely pointless
unless you are allowed to use it in conjuction with your Staff, because if
you use it on its own, its "+1CS" bonus is immediately dwarfed by the -6CS
penalty for fighting without your Staff...... this would make it a pretty
dumb gift to choose - and indeed, if you didn't realise it was a dumb gift,
that would only be because you didn't understand the Rules about the -6CS
penalty, which involves circular reasoning.....
