Elf and others, Is there a blind programming wiki? I would be happy to donate some space on the Sodbeans wiki, if that interests folks, since our tools are dedicated to blind programming anyway. Stefik On Wed, Jul 7, 2010 at 9:56 AM, The Elf <inthaneelf@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:

If we have a portion of the site here and there we will have what we have now. What I will do even if it means I put it up on my Amazon server is dedicate the entire site to it and make it a wiki based one. If Jamal already has this set up I don't want to re-work it. If though people want to see this site back I will purchase one of the available web pages and if someone has all the old stuff put it up instantly and change it over to a wiki slowly the way it should have been done. If no one has anything to work from then I guess I can start fresh. Unless again someone else is already doing this. I have a site up at www.raeder24.org, and it is there for many different purposes, but the first and foremost of which is to help the blind community. If you have any of the content left over from the blind programming site, You can by all means send it on, and I'll dedicate a page to it. In other words, Raeder24 and blind programming can become one if you want to. We are always willing to help in these matters. Let me know. Same for Elf with his site. This way the communitycan directly effect the site's content, which will probably lead to more relevant and up to date information. Swell idea, I think. We could run the email list from there in fact we could run multiple and we could havea droople page where everything is kept. The same people that work on it now could do what little they can do an we could all share the responsibility. ken -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jackie McBride Sent: Sunday, July 04, 2010 8:28 PM To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Where did the blind programming site go?: was: programming tutorials I think it's the only way to go, Ken. Drupal is powerful enough to host anything from a simple website to a large online community, accessible both in terms of its administration& useability,& is perfectly suited for something like this. I've partnered w/a web developer friend of Mine, Elise Lonsdale,& used drupal to make http://jawsscripting.lonsdalemedia.org We've found it to be a rewarding venture in terms of the way Drupal works. It does have somewhat of a steep learning curve initially, but I think that's the same w/all web development. Elise says it's a lot easier than other CMS's she's worked with. My vote is, if u can get it, we should do it. On 7/4/10, Ken Perry<whistler@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:I don't understand why we don't get a droople page set up. It would be done with the simplewikilanguage and would be easy to use. I'll send you a blanked body page so all the color and other stuff matchesthe site, and you just fill in the body, I usually use H2 headers for a section like changing from the C section to the C++ one, and h3 for sub divisions within a section myself, but as long as it's navagateable itsgreat. elf Owner: Alacorn Computer Enterprises Specialists in customized computers and peripherals - own the might and majesty of a Alacorn! www.alacorncomputer.com proprietor, The Grab Bag, for blind computer users and programmers http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Midence"<alex.midence@xxxxxxxxx> To:<programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, July 02, 2010 10:28 PMSubject: Re: Where did the blind programming site go?: was: programmingtutorialsHello, Elf, I would be willing to write the page. I can send it to you and you could link it to your site. I don't have website hosting at the moment or I'd do it. It would make much more sense to place it in a frequented site like yours or the blind developers' site though.Could structure it by giving each language a heading with links to thecorresponding tutorials in an unordered list. Make it quick to navigate that way. Would also make sense to link any editors, ide's and compilers within it as well so it's a one-stop experience. I think this would make for a flexible format because if someone wantsto let us know about a link to tutorials for a language we don't have, all we have to do is add a heading for it Any thoughts?
