Hi Jim.
Most tools I've seen support something called XMI which is like XML but
for modelling tools. The Only problem about using it is that different
tools interpret it in different ways and it doesn't include any layout
information for diagrams meaning there is still a manual step to make
any diagrams pretty.

Hi:OK, so a UML diagram is like a FlowChart then. I would think that
having
some vision would make the process of turning UML into an accessible
format
and creating UML documents possible. For me, it might not be so doable
since I couldn't see the UML to check out the Line connections nor the
various boxes and other diagram tools. I also noted that MS used VISIO
in at
least one of their UML modules and VISIO was a real, huge, mess to try
and
script so it is also likely to be a mess to try and convert from and to
some
accessible format.
Allot would depend on how far the previous author got in coding up the
interface to the UML document considering the Lines and other Graphical
entities used in standard UML diagrams.
The concept seems straight forward enough but the problem would be the
software used to create and process a UML Diagram, VISIO is frightening
to
think of, and if the various lines and graphical entities are already in
place.
It seems I remember reading, some time ago, that a application or
whatever
could be generated using a UML Diagram. Likely the Class or other tags
since
the diagram would likely not hold code itself. Also, there is likely
support
for generating UML diagrams from a Project itself. All these things
would
seem to be dependent on the software processing the UML. It could be
quite a
complicated project requiring sighted help to implement.
Do you know what version of VS it was developed in and how far the
original
author got in his efforts?

My understanding is that those who want to do this need to be able to
create
the diagrams that get used to design software. I'm not sure if they need

take diagrams and turn them into something that can be consumed
nonvisually
