well, what I did was download a application called Karen's who is (or
whois), available from:
www.karenware.com
and ran several variations of the name I was trying for, alacorn, the
mythical winged unicorn, through it using the top domain suffixes (.com, .bis,
.pro, etc.) and found that version was open, then I went to the hosting company
I planned on using, tera-byte.com, and went through the domain registration
screens there and bought my domain and rented my web space all in one shot.
you can do the same at www.UltraHost.US and though they do "quarterly"
billing, 4 billings of three months space rental, it is a lot more space (1 Gb
for 10 dollars a month 30 per quarter) than what I am getting for just a few
cents less (450 Mb for 9.28 dollars a month, billed monthly) from tera-byte)
there is supposed to be another place that will give you 2 Gb for the
same price, but I don't have there address, and since Jeff is VI, and on the
list, and with his all out and ever helpful manor, I tend to recommend
ultrahost to anyone I talk to, smile.

hmmm there is probably a "make file" in there and they used to have
installation and setup instructions files included, but as Ty pointed out,
unless you have access to a cronjob (a timer that can be tied in to activate
programs at measured intervals), a term easy to find, your not going to be able
to run it on a freebee site, or I'll say probably not, since there is always an
exception to any general rule.
the installation and configuration instructions are included in the
bnt package, take a look for any file openable on a windows comp in the folder
you unpacked the files to, and it will give you fairly good step by step
instructions from what I remember.
I also remember the instructions telling you how to interface with
the admin screen and make adjustments to the game and controlling the game,
kicking players and the like.

Well its a linux server with a MYSQL database. I have written the
DB connecter file but it asks me to open the instaler with my web browser but I
do not know witch one it wants me to open or if I have to write any more config
files..

now then what type of server are you installing to, I have set it
up twice, but that was years ago, and I was on a Linux server of the apache
family, and except for a lot of jaws cursoring since that was jaws 4.5 and I
was using putty, there was little trouble in the setup , what file is it
looking for?
