Thanks Jim,

I have Eclipse on my pc currently but we haven't got to using it as yet. OOP
and Java software would both be of interest.

Cheers

roger

  Hi Roger,

I was trying to say that Eclipse would work for you instead of BlueJ. Are you
looking for OO material, Java material, or both?

  Thanks.

  Jim

  Hi Jim,

The course work is all produced by the OU. References to websites and
literature of interest are always listed but as I'm blind, that usually isn't a
good way to go. The course is actually defined as looking at OOP with java and
not really about java programming. That will come in later courses.

  Roger

  Thanks for the input.

    Hi Roger,

See if they will let you use Eclipse. You will do well using that program.
What books are they having you use?

    Susie,

I am interested to know what you were reading and where I may find the
literature so that I might read it myself.

I have just started studying OOP with Java through the Open University in
the UK and am having issues.

We have been given Blue Jay or Blue J software and I seem unable to ineract
with it, does anyone know how or what I need to change to gain access to this
software - using MS Windows XP home and Jaws 9.

    Many thanks

      Hi Everyone,

I just thought I would write and let you know how much I admire all of
you who are certified. This test is not for the faint of heart. I have read the
first chapter once and could answer one out of nine questions. Then I read it
again and the question I got wrong I only got partially correct. It says to
choose all which are correct and you don't know how many might be correct. It
is common to ask which lines will cause compiler errors. I actually am thinking
I might go back and read more in Thinking in Java.
