Has anyone tried that proprietary Maxtor/Seagate Acronis download with other HD brands? Seems like there may be a way you could hack it to get it to work with HD's from WD, IBM, Hitachi, etc. Unfortunately the downloads are not "packed" which means they cannot be "extracted" where you can analyze the contents and then maybe edit a .sys, .inf, .ini, or OEM file. So it would be harder. Could be a special key in the Registry that could be changed. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://www.OrpheusComputing.com http://www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- On 1 Feb 2008 at 4:36 -0500, Hugh Vandervoort wrote, at least in part: > Acronis works for me, and you can get it free if you qualify: > http://www.theinquirer.net/en/inquirer/news/2007/05/22/one-of-the-best-hdd-utilities-is-free > Paid version is $50.00 Acronis True Image has worked well for me. Started with v8.0 and am currently using v10.0. v11.0 can be purchased for under $50.00 at <http://www.ugr.com/TrueImage.html>. -- Karl ----- Original Message ----- From: "LarryB" Does anyone know of a good program to do this? I prefer to pay a reasonable price to image more than one computer. Not $50 for each. thanks -- LarryB ========================= The list's FAQ's can be seen by sending an email to PCWorks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with FAQ in the subject line.
