I'm sorry Christy, I forgot to mention that the Restore Points in WinXP very
often only work correctly from Safe Mode. To enter safe mode just restart
your PC and keep hitting F8 button until you get the menu with Safe Mode
near the top. Do not choose "Safe mode with command prompt", just the
regular "Safe mode" option.

HI Ed,

I had several system checkpoints restore points and tried about five
different ones, my computer would not restore. I hate when that happens and
do not know why. I did uninstall the newer zonealarm update and installed
an older one. I guess I will have to deal with it for now the way it is.
It is a miracle that this old Dell and xp is still going for me after 7-8
years.

thanks,

christy

Christy,

If you uninstalled Zone Alarm, it probably created a restore point when you
re-installed it. My WinXP seems to create a Restore Point every day, so you
probably do have one from just before you started having problems. You
should start the process of restoring a Restore Point, so you can see what
days are available and then decide what you are going to do. You can cancel
out of it before you select a Restore Point and click the Restore button.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- zone alarm question

Hi all,

I let my free zone alarm firewall update today and did not like the update.
I tried uninstalling and looking for my old zonealarm exe file. Found it on
my external hard drive and restarted. My avg has been finding a thing or
two since though. Things just seem a bit off since I updated that program.
Can I just try a restore point , going back to one to fix all as it was? I
did not create one before updateing like a dummy.

thanks
Christy
using xp btw.
