Okay, now I am confused !
I think I remember seeing them on this list, but I also got them directly. I 
think I signed up for MS security emails, too ...
what's a poor girl to do ????

If they were the messages that I forwarded to the list they came to me from 
Microsoft as 
I'm on a Microsoft Security email list and I forwarded them to the list. They 
are legit.

as for needing the patches, the messages list what software is affected and the 
severity 
of the problem discussed.

Also, I've noticed that sometimes I receive these messages before the patches 
are 
placed on the Windows update site (and sometimes they are *not* placed on the 
update 
site at all) but they always have a link to the appropriate Microsoft site 
which has links to 
a direct download of the patch in question.
