Sounds like you removed a dll for SQL. It seems that
AVG uses SQL to some extent. 

I suppose you are using Windows 2000 or XP.
I recommend restoring all dll's in your windows system
directory and all sub directorys. If in doubt restore
them all.

Reboot and retry your update.
