Noise only occurred once since I re-booted and it appeared to come from the left speaker. I have no sound. I have wiggled the plug-ins and reseated the cord to the power strip--still no sound. This seems to be a much easier problem to fix than what I first feared. In any case I can do without sound indefinitely!
