The "formula" is simple. VA is Volt Amps and Ohm's law says volts times Amps equals watts. Therefore 500 VA = 500 watts. Your computer *should* have a nameplate somewhere on the back (if it was manufactured from a factory) that has a power rating somewhere in either voltage and watts or amps and voltage.
